    A cab charges $5 for the ride plus $1.25 per mile. How much will a 53 mile trip cost?

    We set up our cost function C(m) where m is the number of miles:
    C(m) = 1.25m + 5

    The problem asks for C(53):
    C(53) = 1.25(53) + 5
    C(53) = 66.25 + 5
    C(53) = $71.25
