    If 4x+7=xy-6, then what is the value of x, in terms of y

    Subtract xy from each side:
    4x + 7 - xy = -6

    Add 7 to each side:
    4x - xy = -6 - 7
    4x - xy = -13

    Factor out x:
    x(4 - y) = -13

    Divide each side of the equation by (4 - y)
    x = -13/(4 - y)
