    The perimeter of a poster is 20 feet. The poster is 6 feet tall. How wide is it?

    Assumptions and givens:
    • The poster has a rectangle shape
    • l = 6
    • P = 20
    • The perimeter of a rectangle (P) is: 2l + 2w = P
    Plugging in our l and P values, we get:
    2(6) + 2w = 20

    Multiplying through and simplifying, we get:
    12 + 2w = 20

    To solve for w, we type this equation into our search engine and we get:
    w = 4
