    The famous mathematician Pythagoras founded the Mathematical Brotherhood in 530 BC. About how many years ago did this happen?

    BC means before year 0. So we take the current year, which at the time of this post, is 2021. We add 530 years to that since BC is before year 0, and we get:
    2021 + 530 = 2551 years ago
