## Fraction Definition:

An fraction is an expression that measures equal parts of a whole. It consists of a numerator (top) and a denominator (bottom).
We denote a fraction using the image below: For the image above, the 9 purple sections denote the numerator or top. The 9 purple and 1 white section (10 sections) denote the denominator or bottom. We write the fraction below:

## Proper Fractions:

Proper Fractions are fractions less than one. The numerator (top) is less than the denominator (bottom).

## Improper Fractions:

Improper Fractions are fractions greater than or equal to one. The numerator (top) is greater than or equal to the denominator (bottom).
